Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Somalia’s parliamentary
security committee deputy chairman has defended Kenyan’s recent decision to
fight Al-Shabaab rebel group inside Somalia.
Hussein Arale Addan said Kenya has never invaded
Somalia, legitimizing the Kenyan actions in parts of Lower Juba.
He said Al-Shabaab has been terrrising Kenyans in
the recent past, adding that Kenya has all the reasons to fight the rebel group
inside Somalia.
He cautioned Al-Shabaab’s actions inside Somalia
and in the neighbouring countries, saying that they will be dealt with
accordingly.
He repeated Somalia’s claim that Kenya is just
helping its troops in Lower Juba in their fight against the rebel fighters.
His sentiment comes a time there are growing
outcries among the Somali legislators over the Kenyan involvement in the fight
against Al-Shabaab inside Somalia, accusing it of trying to occupy and
infringing Somalia’s sovereignty.
Kenya says its overall campaign strategy is to
reduce Al-Shabaab’s effectiveness and to restore TFG authority in order to
achieve enduring peace in Somalia.
