Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Kenya
has deported two British men back to the UK after they were arrested in Kenya
for allegedly trying to cross the border into Somalia.
Reports say the duo, who are
understood to be 18-year-olds, went missing from their homes in Cardiff last
week and were arrested close to the Kenyan border with Somalia, over suspected
links to Somali militants.
They were deported on
Wednesday after questioning by Kenyan’s anti-terrorism unit. They are expected
in London later on Wednesday, where they are expected to be questioned by South
Wales Police after their arrival.
Kenyan authorities brought
no charges against the two suspects.
It is unclear why the youths
were trying to reach Somalia — a destination known to attract Jihadist
sympathisers hoping to join Al-Shabaab rebel group.
Their arrests came as Kenyan
authorities maintain a high state of alert following its military deployment
into parts of Somalia after string of abductions by suspected Al-Shabaab
fighters from the country’s border region with Somalia.
