Mogadishu (Sunatimes) TFG
forces have started security operations on Bakaara market, which was reopened
early this morning.
Bakaara market was
shut down after a heavy fighting erupted between Shabaab militias and Somali government forces in the
market surroundings.
The Secretary General
of banadir region of Somalia Abdikafi Hilowle confirmed to bar-kulan about the
security operation on the market.
Abdikafi said the
security officers will check all shops and will break shops that will not be
opened by their proprietors for investigations.
Early on Thursday
morning business people in the market and their commodities were interrogated
following a directive from TFG to enhance the security of the market.
The interrogation,
which started today, will end tomorrow where insecurity-related-activities will
be cleared and normal business expected to resume.
Previously the market
was a base for the Shabaab militants and was regained by TFG forces when the
insurgents withdrew from Mogadishu.
