Godane was granted the passport between 13 June and 2 September 2011.

MOGADISHU (Sunatimes) Former leader of the Islamic terror group Al-Shabaab in Somalia Ahmed Abdi Aw-Mohamud (Godane) has recently received a British passport from the British embassy in Yemen, confidential source told Waagacusub media.

According to one of the top militia commanders, who is in condition of antonym, said Godane, who is the US list of terror operatives and always hide his face from recognition, and some other Al-Shabaab most wanted men bought British nationalities from Yemen citizens whose parents were serving for the British kingdom during the colonial era.

Godane was granted the passport between 13 June and 2 September 2011 as he had reached in Yemen in three times.

I don’t know the exact date that Godane was given the British passport but what so far I knew was that his real picture was published on the passport with the name; Sameer Yasser. He had earlier Kenyan and Eretria passports.” A member of Al-Shabaab in the side of Hassan Dahir and Mokhtar Robow said.

If this is confirmed it would be a total scandal to the current British government for its grant to most wanted Somali's terror men for passports.

A commander of Al-Shabaab’s security brigades who is close with Ahmed Godane told a businessman who is in a same clan that their leader had returned from a trip in abroad after the killing of the Al-Qaeda’s head of east Africa Fazul Abdallah in shootout in Mogadishu, Somalia by the government troops this year.

Three of the top horn of Africa intelligent officer argued that minister of Somaliland presidential palace Hersi Haji Ali also has British passport in which he received through British citizenship that he bought from Yemeni national named as Khalid Mohamed.

Meanwhile, Hersi Haji Ali, the minister of Somaliland, who was born in Togdhere region in Somalia, is member of Al-Shabaab and was arrested by the Somaliland security forces from Buro in 2008.

Godane, who earlier boycotted a decision that he was resigned from his position, has dismissed some of his deputies namely Mokhtar Robow.

Al-Shabaab began to lose control of strategic territories in southern Somalia, following the death of Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden in US especial terror operation in Pakistan this year.
