His brain is full of clan, he thinks clan, he eats clans

Mogadishu (Sunatimes) In himself, he is full of proud, thinks that he is from a noble clan. That is Hassan Abshir Farah. He held senior positions in the governments of Somalia, but for sure he has never asked himself what he really is and what he is worthy in the Somali society.

His brain is full of clan, he thinks clan, he eats clans and everything to do with his life has something to do with the clans syndrome that his so-called politicians has been suffering for long without proper cure.
He was picked by General Mohamed Siyad Barre from junior military officials, just because he belonged to one of the “non-threat” clan of Majerten to become a member of the Somali revolutionary government. The term “non-threat” was used by General Barre to classify clans he considered inferior among the so-called major clans.
He was used to spy against his own clan members to please the military regime, an activity that claimed the lives of many people from his own clan and others.
Well known for hatred against the Bantu ethnic community in Somalia, Abshir was known as corrupt mayor in the capital Mogadishu, who even distributed lands in areas for public use to his own family members.
Somalia civil war
In 1991, Abshir fled to Germany when the military regime was toppled. From there he told the international media that his Darod clan decided to fight the Hawiye clan of United Somali Congress, because the Darods are superior in the country and will never allow to be ruled by Hawiye.
He was in charge of collecting money from Darod members in Europe to fuel the war in Somalia, especially in the regions where his clansmen massacred innocent people. In Jubba regions members of Abshir’s clan killed thousands of Wagosha innocent people in a bid to cleanse them from their land.
After few months he clan agenda made him a friend to Ali Mahdi one Mogadishu warlords.
Ali Mahdi was then fighting against the late well known faction leader, General Mohamed Farah Aideed.
Abshir’s aim by that time was to fuel the war in Mogadishu and make sure that many people from Hawiye clan are killed in the fighting.
Djibouti Reconciliation meeting

The efforts of Djibouti leader, Ismail Omar Gelle to bring together warring Somali factions in 2000, gave a golden opportunity to Hassan Abshir’s clan agenda.
He is the one who against the Islamic teachings and the human values proposed that the Bantu people be considered as second class citizens in the country, just to fulfill his hatred and discrimination against certain Somali clans.
Later on he joined the government formed in Djibouti and launched secret activities against the former interim president Abdikasim Salad Hassan. The reason why he was opposing the country’s leader was just because President Abdikasim was from the Hawiye clan.
The clan minded leader, Abshir also joined the opposition camp during the Somali reconciliation conference in Nairobi, Kenya. The opposition group was under the leadership of Col Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmad, who also hails from Majerten clan.
Involving in clan political violence
When the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia was formed in 2006, Abshir became a minister for fisheries and marine resources. During the infighting within the Somali new government leadership between President Yusuf and Parliament Speaker, Sharif Hassan, Abshir sided with the president.
He was famous at 680 Hotel in Nairobi, where he organized gangs from the Somali inhabited suburb of Eastleigh to beat up the opponents of President Yusuf.
Wagosha killings and atrocities in Puntland
Some of Wagosha people who were forced out of their homes in Jubba regions fled to Mogadishu and then to Puntland, without knowing that there is someone called Hassan Abshir who would not spare a second if he gets a chance to massacre them.
About 500 people from Wagosha were killed in Puntland for the last 6 months.
Most of the killings were carried out by Puntland security forces under the leadership of President Abdirahman Farole. President Farole and Hassan Abshir are from same sub clan of Isse Mohamud.
As a serving MP in the Somali parliament, Abshir held a press conference in Mogadishu to deny media reports about the killing of Wagosha people in Puntland, even he was shown evidence of names and the dates these people were killed.
What Abshir doesn’t understand is that we are in the 21st century, where everything is clear.
If yesterday he campaigned for undermining the human values of some Somali clans, its better that he keeps in mind that Wagosha people are not as he is thinking.
We are a society that is ready to speak the language that many Somalis understand and that is WAR. So that Puntland people have to know that we will not leave this case as it is until justice is available by any means.
