Bosaso (Sunatimes) Unknown gangs have on Thursday
shot and wounded a journalist in Bosaso town, Puntland’s Bari region of
Somalia.
The journalist, Hassan Mohamed Ali alias Anteno
who works with local FM station, Codka Nabada (Voice of Peace) was shot on the
chest and right hand by three men armed with pistols at a local cafeteria in
the city.
Reports say Anteno is in critical condition and
is been treated in a hospital in the city, where he is receiving blood
transfusion.
The identity and the motive of the gunmen are yet
to be established.
Anteno who is a southerner is said to have fled
instability in Mogadishu and sought refuge in a relatively peaceful Bosaso,
where he is now fighting for his life.
Puntland’s Bari regional police boss, Abdi Farey
told Bar-kulan that the gangs have earlier called the journalist’s cell phone
while in his work place and requested to him to come out of the station.
He added that Anteno came out of the station and
decided to wait the caller at a cafeteria where he was later attacked.
Several frightened journalists thronged into the
hospital where the wounded journalist. The incident shocked press men in the
city as they too feared for their safety.
