Galgadud(Sunatimes) At least 32 people have died of hunger and thirst related complications in El-der district of Galgadud region of Somalia, locals say.

Mohamed Ahmed, one of the local elders in the district told Bar-kulan that most of the people who died are drought and famine-stricken locals in and around the El-der town.

Although he didn’t specify the time-frame of the death, he said the situation is getting worse as famine continue biting the area.

He added that if aid agencies did not move in quickly to help locals, mainly herders whose livestock have been swept away by the drought, several others will face similar situation as humanitarian catastrophe looms in the entire district.

Local elders appelead to the area Ahlu Sunna administration, the Somali government and aid agencies to immediately come to their rescue to avert further humanitarian catastrophe in the district.
