Cairo (Sunatimes) A colourful prize giving ceremony to award 47 Somali students who participated in a hotly contested Koran recitation competition was on Wednesday held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
Students from several Koranic Schools in the city participated in the Koran recitation competition which was conducted during the just ended holy month of Ramadan.
The competition which was jointly organised by members of the Somali students football club in Cairo and Koran teachers in the city was held at Al-Azhar University’s Salah Kamil conference hall in Cairo.
A total of 81 students participated in the completion, where they competed for the recitation of 30, 10 and 5 Juz of the Holy Koran. Winners of the completion were given certificates and other awards for their achievements.
The ceremony was attended by several prominent Somali clerics in Cairo, including Dr. Abdinasir Jama Warsame and Sheikh Mahdi Shidane.

Somali students receive awards in Cairo
The competition which was jointly organised by members of the Somali students football club in Cairo
