Galkayo (Sunatimes) He said Puntland’s intention was to secure the area from armed militant-backed-militias causing havoc in the area, adding that the militia rattled with their security officers leading to a full scale war.

Shimbir pleaded with locals who fled the area during the clashes and urged them to come back to their homes as security has been tightened. He promised to take decisive measures in assuring the safety of the locals and their property.

Puntland delegation’s visit to the area comes shortly after local elders managed to halt escalating hostilities between the two warring sides.

The recent two day clashes in Garsor neighbourhood of Galkayo city has claimed the lives of over forty people while hundreds of others were wounded, mainly combatants from both sides of the warring groups.
