Mahiga stated that in the process of implementation

Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Delegates keenly follow the proceedings of the meeting in Mogadishu/RBKThe three day Somali national reconciliation conference has just been concluded, with organisers issuing the meetings communiqué at the closing of the talks in Mogadishu.

The UN representative for Somalia Augustine Mahiga who read the meeting’s communiqué said over 3,000 stakeholders including IGAD, AU, OIC and the EU participated in the proceedings of the meeting.

He said participants considered four policies tasks during the meeting; security, good governance, reconciliation and constitution.

He outlined the adopted issues, saying that the TFG has been mandated to lead the process of implementation of the roadmap while cordially working with the parliament and other regional administrations in the country.

Mahiga stated that in the process of implementation, Somali ownership should be considered. He added that the transitional federal institutions should undertake timely support of the implementation of the four tasks with resource mobilization be agreed in the next 21 days.

The envoy said the international community will foot for the financial support in implementing the roadmap outlined during the meeting.

Speaking at the closure of meeting, President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed praised all the participants for sacrificing their precious time to discuss on the future of the country.

The president promised that his government will firmly uphold the outcome of the three day meeting and urged other leaders to respect the outcome on their sides.

On national security, the president praised the work of African Union peacekeepers for their commitment in restoring peace to Somalia and their presence during the three day meeting to bolster security in the area.

The president also stressed on humanitarian issues in the country, saying that several friendly countries like Djibouti and Turkey has played a greater role in helping the Somali people.
