Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Ali Akbar SalehiA delegation of Iranian officials led by Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has on Tuesday arrived in Mogadishu to accelerate delivery of Iran’s humanitarian aids to the hunger-hit Somali people and assess the crisis situation in the country.
Salehi who held a press conference in Adan Ade airport where he was received by Somalia’s interior and national security minister Abdisamad Maalim Mohamud and other top Somali government officials said the main objective of his visit to Somalia is to draw world’s attention to country’s plight.
He said his government has already allocated $ 25 for drought and famine displaced people in Somalia. The Iranian delegation accompanying Salehi includes experts from Iran’s Red Crescent.
Salehi is set to hold talks with Somali government officials on the drought and famine related crisis in the country and visit the refugee camps in the capital, Mogadishu.
