Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Somalia’s president, Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, has confirmed that Sudan has offered to provide substantial aid to his drought-stricken country, where the United Nations declared famine last month in two regions.

President Sharif who is in Sudan for an official visit told Sudan news agency (SUNA) that his talks with president Omer Hassan Al-Bashir on the situation in Somalia focused on the drought and the kind of support Khartoum can provide.

The president said that Bashir expressed readiness to aid Somalia and told him that one is currently in the works.
