Minnesota (Sunatimes) U.S Foreign Ministry officials have held talks with Somali Americans from the U.S states of Minnesota, Virginia, Ohio and Seattle to discuss on how to help starving people in the drought hit regions of Somalia.

The U.S officials briefed members of the Somali American community on their findings, following a trip to Somali refugee camps in Mogadishu, Kenya and Ethiopia, where thousands of Somalis are camping after fleeing starvation in the hardest drought-hit regions in Southern Somalia.

The U.S Foreign Ministry officials said people living in refugee camps in East Africa are in dare need of immediate humanitarian aid, with most of the children in the camps severely malnourished.

The officials urged the Somali American community to join the global efforts aimed at responding to drought situation in Somalia and leave no stone-unturned in providing desperately needed humanitarian aid to drought victims in Somalia.

Earlier the community has been soliciting funds for the drought-stricken Somali population in Southern Somalia who have been badly affected by the ravaging drought in the Horn of Africa.
