Nairobi (Sunatimes) The Russian government has donated $3 Million aid to help hundreds of thousands of Somalis affected by the ravaging drought that has hit the Horn of African country.
Somalia’s ambassador to Russia, Mohamed Mohamud Handule, told Bar-kulan that Russia has handed over $2 Million to the United Nations World Food Programme to provide humanitarian relief for the drought victims inside Somalia, most of who are severely malnourished children.
The ambassador also said the other $1 Million is aimed at providing humanitarian support for Somali refugees in Dadaab refugee camp in northern Kenya.
Mr. Handule, however, called on Somali people who are financially well-off to take part in the rescue operations aimed at helping those badly affected by the drought in and outside the country.
