Jerry Rowlings says the prolong drought in Somalia has greatly affected

Mogadishu (Sunatimes) African Union special representative to Somalia, Jerry Rowlings, has urged the international community to provide humanitarian assistance to thousands of Somalis devastated by the current raging drought in the country.

Jerry Rowlings says the prolong drought in Somalia has greatly affected the lives of many Somalis in the country and are in dare need of humanitarian assistance to save their lives.

The AU special representative to Somalia, Jerry Rowlings, who visited Mogadishu on Tuesday, said his trip to the capital was to assess the impact and the scale of the drought in Southern Somalia, in order to for him to submit his findings to the African Union leaders.

Jerry, however, noted that humanitarian relief will be distributed to the needy people inside Somalia and those in refugee camps in the neighbouring Kenya and Ethiopia, urging the Somali government to take decisive measures in making sure that the Somali people get out of this crisis as soonest possible.
