Mogadishu (Sunatimes) African Union special representative to
Somalia, Jerry Rowlings, has urged the international community to provide
humanitarian assistance to thousands of Somalis devastated by the current
raging drought in the country.
Jerry Rowlings says the prolong drought in Somalia has greatly
affected the lives of many Somalis in the country and are in dare need of
humanitarian assistance to save their lives.
The AU special representative to Somalia, Jerry Rowlings, who
visited Mogadishu on Tuesday, said his trip to the capital was to assess the
impact and the scale of the drought in Southern Somalia, in order to for him to
submit his findings to the African Union leaders.
Jerry, however, noted that humanitarian relief will be distributed
to the needy people inside Somalia and those in refugee camps in the
neighbouring Kenya and Ethiopia, urging the Somali government to take decisive
measures in making sure that the Somali people get out of this crisis as
soonest possible.
