Mahas (Sunatimes) Local militia from Mahas area in Hiran regions which has been up in arms with Al-Shabaab militia in the region has joined the TFG forces in Kalabayr area.

Reports say the militia will start training next week in Kalabayr to enable them integrated into the Somali government forces in the area.

The Al-Shabaab militia in Mahas and its environs has been terrorizing locals in the area, forcing elders in the area to arm local militia to drive away the Al-Shabaab militia from the region.

For the last two days, Al-Shabaab militia in the area has been demolishing water reservoirs owned by the local people, accusing them of proving water to their enemies in the area.

Elsewhere, Somali government troops in Hiran region are reportedly engaged in military maneuvers in preparation for a full scale assault against Al-Shabaab militia controlling almost all parts of the region.

The former Hiran provincial commissioner, Yussuf Ahmed Hagar said they are planning full scale attacks on Al-Shabaab strong holds in the region to seize control of area like Beledwein, Bulo-barde and Jalalaqsi.
