Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Somalia’s president, Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, on
Tuesday visited Badbado refugee camp in Darkenley district and other
residential areas in the capital, Mogadishu.
The president received warm welcome from members of the drought
rescue committee who handed over to him emergency humanitarian relief needed by
the drought victims fleeing their homes due to the worsening drought situation
and Al-Shabaab’s brutality in areas under their control.
Addressing the IDPs in the camp, the president assured them that
they will soon be out of this terrible political and economic situation and
prayed for a brighter future amongst the drought-stricken population in the
camp.
The president also visited Madina district and other business
centers in Mogadishu, where he was received by a jubilantly mammoth crowd
chanting “welcome Mr. President”.
President Sharif, however, shook hands with each and every member
of the jubilant crowd that thronged in the area to welcome him in Darkenley
district.
