Cape town (Sunatimes) South African police have seized a minibus
carrying khat (narcotic leaves) packed in a bag and arrested fourteen Somalis
onboard for allegedly ferrying the narcotic leaves to Cape Town, South Africa.
Police intercepted the minibus carrying the consignment and
fourteen Somali nationals from Johannesburg heading to Cape Town.
The driver of the minibus, Abdi Mahad, told Bar-kulan that police
officers manning a checkpoint located at outskirt of Cape Town have seized the
narcotics after searching a bag owned by one of the passengers in the minibus
and found khat packed in the bag.
All the passengers were later taken to a nearby police station
where they would be held until Monday when they will be arraigned in court for
having illegally in possession of narcotics.
