Mogadishu (Sunatimes) At least one civilian died and another seriously injured after the militias of Al-Shabaab opened fire at people who were selling Khat in Alamada area in Mogadishu.
The militias fired deliberately at the Khat sellers in the area. The incident is taking place at a time the relationship between the Khat Traders and the militias is getting worse.
The militias ordered the Khat Traders to sell the drug at allocated areas in Alamada, but the traders ignored to abide by the order, and continued to sell the drug in areas where they can find a good number of customers.
Al-Shabaab militias have banned the drug in most of the places they control in Southern Somalia and have restricted it to be sold at certain places far from the main town centers.
