Many business premises were shut down in the areas where the demonstrations were taking place. The protesters burned tires in the streets.

Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Mogadishu, to show how they are against the stepping down of Somalia’s prime minister, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo, who is widely expected to announce his resignation.

The Maka Al-mukarana road was flooded with demonstrators carrying pictures of the prime minster, while heading to the Aden Ade international airport, where the Farmaajo is expected to jet in.

The demonstrators, mostly of women and young people, were chanting slogans supporting the prime minister and apposing the interference of his government, adding that the prime minister’s government has done a progress during its six month in power.

Many business premises were shut down in the areas where the demonstrations were taking place. The protesters burned tires in the streets.

Military and police forces was reported that they were in the areas of the demonstrations to maintain security and restrain any other disturbances.

The prime minister is due to arrive in the coming hours and it is speculated that he will caring his resignation.

The premier’s quitting was said to be among the outcome of the ICG meeting that ended in Uganda’s capital, Kampala.
