    President Sharif calls for an extension of government term

    Sharif pointed out the current political, security and financial gains of his government and as well as the public development, during the meeting of ICG on Somalia.

Sharif pointed out the current political, security and financial gains of his government and as well as the public development, during the meeting of ICG on Somalia.

Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Somalia’s president, Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, asked an extension of the government’s mandate which will expire on 20th August this year. The president made this statement during the International Contact Group meeting on Somalia in Kampala.

The president said that there are many unfinished tasks ahead of the government which could not be accomplished if no extension is granted, adding that the Somalis need to be left alone to shape the destiny of their country.

Sharif pointed out the current political, security and financial gains of his government and as well as the public development, during the meeting of ICG on Somalia.

The president praised the efforts of the Ugandan and Burundian forces to bring about peace in Somalia. He also accredited the US, EU and the Arab League for their unrelenting support to drive Somalia out of its current chaos.
