Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Calm has returned to Mogadishu after intense fighting between Al-Shabab militias and the TFG military backed by the AU peacekeeping forces in the last two days.

Witnesses told Bar-kulan that no gunfire was heard this evening. Reports say TFG troops are in control of the areas of fighting, such as the National Road otherwise known as ‘Jidka Wadnaha’ where Al Shabab were chased away.

The government and AMISOM troops are reported to be based in some parts of the Bakara market, where they seized in yesterday’s military operation, and promised to continue their crack down on militias until they secure the market and Banadir region.

The last two days has seen one of the fiercest fighting in Mogadishu between the warring sides in the city
