Cape town (Sunatimes) The immigration department of South Africa is reported to be sending back Somali refugees to a refugee camp in Zimbabwe where there is Malaria outbreak.
The immigration officials say the Somalis should bear identification papers from Zimbabwe showing that they are legal refugees after which they can be allowed to live in South Africa.
On the other hand, the officials of immigration in Zimbabwe said there should be international awareness and help for the Somalis before the outbreak of the diseases in the camps worsens.
At least twenty people in the camp have been reported to have contracted Malaria.
According to Zimbabwean immigration officials at Beitbridge Border Post, the South African started sending the Somalis to Zimbabwe last Thursday.
District civil protection committee resolved to round up all Somali refugees and take them into a temporary holding place.
Zimbabwe is concerned about the decision taken by the South African Immirgration to send back Somali refugees to Zimbabwe, as Police officials fear that the group poses a security threat in the area.
