Adado (Sunatimes) Al Shabab has today flogged a young woman in Jowhar town of Lower Shabelle region of Somalia.
The militia accused the woman of listening to BBC Somali Service in her home in Jowhar.
The woman received several lashes and the militia warned the woman that the consequences of disobeying the orders will be to undergo such treatment.
The militia forcefully and without permission entered the woman’s house and tortured her, detaining her mother also as she claimed.
The elders and the intellects of the region were deeply infuriated by the incident. The woman was later released from detention following efforts made by the elders.
Al Shabab militia had earlier banned the listening of the BBC Somali, VOA and radio Bar-kulan in the areas under their control.
